There are some rules about formatting; there is help on this below the edit area of the page you are editing. Basically, don't worry. Plain text will work and the worst that you can do is to create links you didn't mean to, and these don't really matter. (They can be created by using a CamelCase word like a WikiName when you didn't mean to create a link or by using square brackets).

If you want to create a new page then type in a new CamelCase word. When you save the page, the word will come up with a little question mark next to it. Click on the question mark and off you go. (Double check the spelling and use of case - this page got it wrong and has been left as a warning; however it is relatively easy to fix ).

More elaborate formatting is of course welcome and up to you. Wikis keep all previous versions so they can be recovered very easily.

If you only make a tiny change that would not warrant recording a change or notifying other users about it then use the button Minor changes or QuietSave.

Off you go - try the slogan competition as a SandBox? or play area.

Typing in the word brought up the definition. Wiki's handy that way, page exists. Then often a page has related information links, like on WebNotify, it has "see also WebChangesAlert".
